Lack of cooperation between IT and business biggest challenge in hyperautomation projects

Almost three-quarters of Dutch companies (72%) see a lack of cooperation between business and IT as the biggest challenge when implementing hyperautomation technology. This is according to a survey by Ciphix among dozens of Dutch companies.

When business and IT do not work closely together, IT teams may develop hyperautomation solutions that do not fully align with business needs or priorities. As a result, it becomes difficult to maximise the value of these solutions. In addition to poor collaboration, companies cite a lack of resources and skills (64%) and an unclear digitalisation strategy (60%) as major challenges in implementing hyperautomation technology.

Responding faster and more flexibly to market changes
The main reason companies consider hyperautomation technology is to respond more quickly and flexibly to market demands (52%). Additionally, businesses aim to accelerate application development (36%) or provide tools that allow employees to build applications themselves (28%).

When asked about the three biggest risks of not adopting hyperautomation within the next five years, companies are most concerned about operational inefficiency, rising operational costs, and declining productivity (80%). They also fear losing the ability to adapt to market trends (64%) and a weakening competitive position (40%).

Marijn van de Poel, Chief Strategy Officer at Ciphix: “By combining different technologies, many business processes can now be optimised and automated, significantly boosting productivity and competitiveness. However, our customers, prospects, and partners indicate that a lack of collaboration between business and IT still limits the impact of these implementations. This is unfortunate because smart automation offers enormous opportunities to make better use of human potential. With our expertise, we are committed to breaking down these barriers and supporting future-proof businesses in the Netherlands.”
