SMEs deploy Low-Code primarily to respond faster to changing business needs
24 January 2024 • News

SMEs are using low-code primarily to respond faster and more flexibly to demands from the business. That is the main conclusion of a tour among dozens of SMEs participating in the seminar “Taking low-code to the next-level. The seminar was organized by Ciphix, a specialist in software solutions for digitizing and optimizing business processes.
Of the participating companies, 75 percent indicated that low-code is already being used in their organization. When asked what they want to achieve with the adoption of a low-code platform, in addition to responding faster to questions from the business, they mentioned accelerating application development and bringing down software development costs. Over 70 percent of companies cited the lack of the right skills and capabilities as the biggest challenge to further digitization.
Philippe Neven, spokesman at Ciphix: “Agility is important for every company but perhaps most of all for SMEs. It is often their greatest strength to respond quickly and specifically to developments in their market. The high adoption rate of low-code within these companies shows that they are not afraid to embrace technology that supports them in this regard.”
Taking mutual cooperation to the next level
Participants were also asked what they think is the most important factor in taking team collaboration in their SME company to the next level. Over 41 percent indicated that a culture of trust and respect plays the biggest role, followed by the combination of clear communication and shared mutual goals at 25 percent.
Neven: “It is important that there is trust within a team to share ideas and opinions freely in order to achieve the best end result. Just like good communication, these are things you need to include already when you put your teams together. When integrating low-code into your organization, good collaboration based on trust is indispensable. Trust allows you to give teams control over the distribution of their budgets, their planning and approval. This allows the full potential of low-code to develop software faster and more often. In this way, you create a situation in which the needs from the business are much easier to translate into concrete applications.”
