Condition Based Monitoring web portal

Condition Based Monitoring web portal

Improve your services with a Condition Based Monitoring web portal: increase efficiency, save on maintenance costs and avoid problems with predictive maintenance.

Reason

To manage maritime equipment on ships around the world, condition-based monitoring (CBM) has been introduced. This is a maintenance strategy that allows companies to monitor the condition of their equipment in real time and collect information to understand the true condition of the machines. As soon as a parameter such as vibration or temperature changes, it can be an indication of a failure. CBM helps monitor these parameters 24/7 and by performing predictive maintenance in the event of an anomaly, downtime can be minimized.

Need for efficient CBM solution

However, CBM does not always run smoothly. Communication about equipment status via e-mail often does not circulate efficiently and does not always reach the right people. As a result, analysts struggle with process management and deviations sometimes go unnoticed. This results in more frequent downtime and higher maintenance costs. To solve this problem, there is a need for a future-proof digital CBM solution that provides real-time insight so that companies can be more proactive and effective in their maintenance.

  • CBM portal development
Within 7 weeks, a web portal for CBM was developed that provides real-time visibility into equipment operational parameters and integrates with existing measurement systems.
  • User role-based views
The portal assigns viewing rights based on user roles and enables automatic task assignment, which manages the CBM program more efficiently.
  • Enhanced communication and maintenance
The CBM dashboard provides status overviews and facilitates communication between chief engineers and analysts, enabling predictive maintenance and problem prevention.

Approach

At Ciphix, we have created an effective 4-step method to develop the perfect software solutions for condition-based monitoring (CBM):
1. Discover
2. Defining
3. Design
4. Do

Low-code provides a visual approach to building applications, allowing even people without traditional programming knowledge to contribute. This accelerates development speed, provides flexibility and scalability, and saves costs. We use low-code at Ciphix to digitise CBM processes, replace outdated systems and drive innovation. Our CBM web portal is an excellent example of this approach, enabling real-time data visibility, automatic task assignment and improved communication.

The solution

Within 7 weeks, a web portal for CBM was developed. Companies and their customers can use this portal for monitoring maritime equipment. The portal provides users with real-time insight into operational parameters of machinery on ships. The solution integrates with existing measurement systems and offers mobile and offline capabilities. The portal is built on a platform that enables fast, flexible app development.

Viewing rights in the portal can be assigned based on the user’s role, such as fleet manager, chief engineer, program manager or analyst. The portal also allows for automatic task assignment, such as measurement, analysis or feedback. Users can view only the tasks they need to complete, which helps to manage the CBM program more efficiently.

Special CBM dashboard

Through the CBM dashboard, the portal provides an overview of status at different levels, such as customer, fleet, vessel, machine series and measurement position. The portal also enables easy communication between a ship’s chief engineer and an analyst. The chief engineer can upload measurements he performs based on a schedule provided by a program manager. With that data, analysts can diagnose machine conditions and report their findings along with recommendations through the portal. With the results, customers can perform predictive maintenance and prevent problems on their vessels.

The result

The new portal has significantly improved the CBM process. The portal supports the complete CBM process management of both companies and their customers and provides 24/7 visibility into essential equipment parameters. It now acts as a single “source of truth,” resulting in improved internal efficiency and time savings on lengthy e-mail calls and discussions. The portal also enables companies to reduce maintenance costs and provide high-quality advice and support to customers based on real-time data.
