A medium-sized public sector organization was at the beginning of their digital transformation. Their ambition: to work more efficiently using a low-code application. <\/span><\/p>\n

For them, it was a big step. Not only because it was their first digital project, but also because they had no experience with agile working. And frankly, they doubted whether a project manager was needed at all. <\/span><\/p>\n

For us, it was precisely an opportunity to show that digitization is more than technology. It’s about people, cooperation and trust. So we decided to appoint a project manager (at no extra cost) to make their first step an instant strong one. <\/span><\/p>\n

More than appointments and schedules<\/span><\/h3>\n

We took an approach that is about trust, not spreadsheets.<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of focusing on ‘hard’ agreements or technical details, we gave extra attention to the personal and emotional side of working together. Because although we are used to ups & downs in a project, for a client those ‘downs’ can have a lot of impact. <\/span><\/p>\n

Especially in later stages, when the pressure increases. Then the successes become greater but also the disappointments more palpable. <\/span><\/p>\n

The power of leadership is in listening<\/span><\/h3>\n

At the first serious obstacle, it came down to it:<\/span>
\n<\/span>The project leader communicated openly, actively involved the customer and kept the sprint goals sharp with the team.<\/span><\/p>\n

During retrospectives, the focus was not only on technical areas for improvement, but also on cooperation, expectations and pace. This created a rhythm that gave confidence. <\/span><\/p>\n

The project leader acted as both guide and sounding board, providing an overview and direction even when things did not go as planned.<\/span><\/p>\n

The team as the foundation<\/span><\/h3>\n

This collaboration worked because the team delivered more than an application.<\/span>
\n<\/span>They delivered commitment, flexibility, quality.<\/span><\/p>\n

The project ultimately received a wonderful rating: an 8.5 from the product owner on collaboration.<\/span><\/p>\n
